Day Off

Last month I planned a day off for today planning to be in a seminar, but I missed the registration deadline and I didn't go. This gave me a whole day with Abi. And it was a beautiful day; 69F and sunny. Great day for a date with my little girl ;-)

We went shopping to one of the malls near Charlotte and we had a blast. This is Abi 'shopping' and having lunch with me





























From the mall we went home so Abi could take her nap and then we headed out to the playground picking up Aly, Abi's older friend.

After all of this fun we ended up home for dinner, more outdoors playing and books reading and of course watching a cartoon eating apples








It was such a fun day! Abi has changed so much within the past couple weeks it is hard to believe! She talks more, uses more words, puts 2-3 words together, is pure fun and joy to have her around.

Nope, it's not easy hehe, I'm exhausted, but spending time with her like this is one of the best things that could have ever happened to me.

Today's Cardiologist Visit

Today we went with Abi for her cardiologist appointment; first in 6 months. 6 months it's been the longest in between visits in her entire life. She did great during the appointment, though she was much less distractible then the last time when she was younger.

The puls-ox, when it was finally able to do any reading, showed saturation at 96% which is really good. Due to Abi's unwillingness to cooperate we were not able to check her blood pressure, but she did remarkably well during heart echo and we got very good pictures. Abi had most fun with EKG - playing with the wires attached to her chest with 'stickers' and then taking the stickers off on her own- the visit couldn't have ended better for her. She loves stickers ! :-)

Her Ebstenoid tricuspid valve is not leaking much and does not seem to affect her in any negative way. If there are no changes to it she may never need a surgery to repair or replace it.

The pulmonary baffle that was created during double-switch surgery and corrected last year is wide open. No blood flow obstruction! That's a wonderful news!

The next important thing to check was possible leakage where the TGA repair was made. Nothing wrong there either!

It was one of the best appointments ever! Once again we got into talking about Abi's future, and I mean FUTURE. It is possible things may change with her growing, but it is possible she will not need any medical, heart related intervention in a long time, if ever. If she was 16 years old now with her heart looking this good, she would most probably never need anything done with any of the defects and/or repairs.

She's absolutely amazing! ! !

Cardiologist Appointment After 6 Months

Tomorrow morning, January 25 we are going to Abi's first cardiologist appointment in 6 months.

When everything is confirmed to be fine the next one should be in another 6 months and then annually.

We haven't noticed anything that would worry us as far as Abi's heart, but she just developed this nasty cough and is running very low fever. I hope we won't have to cancel the appointment in the morning. We have already made an appointment with Abi's pediatrician for tomorrow afternoon just to have her checked and make sure it won't turn in to anything bad.

And this is Abi this morning running around and playing with her thermometer still in her PJs ;-)

Grandparents Just Left

My parents left today after staying with us almost 6 months. Right now they are in the air on their way home. It was great to have them here (and yes we had our rough patches) but it's strange not to have them around in the evening. It's our first night home alone in 6 months.

More Words

Apart from the words Abi has been using for quite a while now such as: "mama", "tata & daddy", "pa-pa" & bye-bye", "no", "nie" (it's no in Polish), "yeah", "tak" (it's yes in Polish), "apple", "more", "bubble", "book", "go", "baba & dziadzia" (grama & grandpa in Polish), a couple of names like Abi- she calls herself "Abu". She can say "Ania" (my sister's, mom-in-law's and my grandma's name); "Ada" (it's actually Eden - her 2-year old neighbor's name); "Car-car" (Carter - her 4-year old neighbor) and her all-time favorite "Elmo" and also "Erni" from Sesame Street. She makes most of animal sounds.
And now Abi added 2 new words 2 days ago. Both for the same thing in both languages.
This time we caught it on camera!

Now she says "shoe" and "but" (read:boot) (shoe in Polish)
